In my city, we have a homeless ministry called Feed My Sheep. True to its name, it's a place that feeds people - but then does so much more. Feed My Sheep has a Resource Center which can help with everything from paying rent to getting an ID, education programs, addiction recovery programs, Bible studies, and men's and women's centers where people can go for laundry, showers, and a bit of respite from being on the street.
The women's center is called The Well, and the ladies there have started on a microenterprise journey. They are making simple crafts, pickles, spice mixes, and other goods which are being sold at local farmers' markets and other vendor events.
This helps the ladies learn a skill which can be turned into income! (Pause for a moment and consider how great that is!!)
Hickory and Elm is proud to donate a portion of our June proceeds to the Well in support of their new undertaking! Part of every purchase made in June will go toward this ministry.
